Blog Fail.

Oops I did it again. I said I was here to stay and then I disappeared for a while. Its been one of those busy times. One in which the the world spins, whisking you on an even faster whirl wind ride. I missed writing my thanksgiving thanks and I am just days before xmas and I haven't done a single gift guide or anything of the sort-Total Blog Fail!

My dear friends, please forgive me for this long absence. I thought about writing and I wanted to write, but each time I sat down at my computer, there seemed to be another task that was pulling me away from Classic Twist. I will be continuing to write and keeping up with fashion, interiors, photography and much more....I really do promise!

Right now, I'd like to reflect 2009. This year has been a unique year in so many ways. I've been shaken to the core, stripped down and forced to really take a close look at how I was living my life before and what values I have for living my life going forward. Some periods of this shake down have not been pretty, while others have blossomed and flourished more then I could have imagined.

As we near the close of 2009, I'd like to reflect on what I'm thankful for this year.....

I am thankful for my wonderful boyfriend who has been my biggest cheerleader this year. Supporting me in every crazy idea I threw out in the wind. He has been my backbone and I couldn't have done it without him.

For our cat, Max. He is a crazy little kitten and even though he attacks me and thinks I am a cat too, I still love the crazy Max cat.

For our lovely apartment in NYC.

Central Park. A little piece of nature, which is so calming when you live in a big city. Taking long walks everyday has helped me stay sane.

For  a new understanding of life and how you can't take things for granted.

For my health.

For learning that laughter can be a healer and the best medicine.

For my best friends that consistently listen to my problems, cry and laugh with me.

Saying good-bye to cable forever. Honestly if you haven't zapped cable do it now. You will cherish your time amongst loved ones, read and just be happier all around.

Expanding my mind and soul in all areas of my life.

For my family for being a great support system.

For red wine.

And for all the small things. They really do matter and life is so much better when approached with optimism and a smile.

**I feel like I could go on and on and on, but I've said enough for now**

May this next week be spent amongst family and loved ones. Relax, eat lots of food, most importantly smile and be happy!

I will be traveling to West Virgina for the rest of the week and I'll have very limited access to e-mail, thus we will meet again in a week.

I hope all your holiday wishes come true!

xoxo

Style Icon.

I am so inspired by the classic sophisticated style of Audrey Hepburn. I love the classic lines, simplicity, yet ladylike and glamorous look. She is a complete inspiration to me in my style, work & life.

White jeans for fall.

What are your thoughts on white jeans in Fall? I personally love it! I tried it the other day, layered with dark gray, orange and brown boots...I'm always a bit hesitant about wearing white jeans in the fall weather, but after seeing this image, it confirmed my feelings. Fashion rules are meant to be broken!

Happy Halloween!

I'll be honest...I love the fall season, however I don't care for dressing up (although I do love to see others get creative with their costumes)! I might enjoy dressing up if I were more of a planner, but honestly I get lazy and never plan early enough. I always start to think about my costume too late (hence why I only have cat ears). This year I will be passing out candy with Charles and a few of our friends. A nice low-key evening of wine, candy, children dressed up to trick or treat and lots of laughs!

Some yummy treat ideas....

Marais USA...A must have indeed!

I just love it when a brand embodies these three things...wearable (I love a heel as much as the next girl, but let's face it..I live in NYC which means I walk EVERYWHERE), affordable (Um...economy, lay-offs and such...need I say more?) and oh so cute designers (when the designers and are just as cute as the shoes, it makes me want the shoe just that bad!).

Case in point...Marais USA.

Wearable ( And can I add ADORABLE):

Affordable! Yippie, at $88. these are moving from my wishlist to my closet!!

Aren't they cute? I love hearing a good story. These two gals met at Parson NY and solved a problem that so many of us have....a need for adorable, wearable and affordable shoes.

**Seriously, need I say anymore. I'm sold!

I Heart..Nadinoo.

Yes, I really heart you...found here.

A portrait of me.

Yikes, where did the week go?!

I've been up to my eyebrows working and marketing my business, Style Me Laura. Next thing I know the week has slipped through my fingers...I guess it's just been one of those months!

My mom, just posted a blog post about a portrait she painted of me while I was visiting my family in CA. If you haven't checked out her blog, I encourage you to go check it out, here. She's a very talented artist!

This picture was taken in an adorable cafe in Cambria, CA ( a charming beach town along the Central Coast of California)....

Here are a few shots of the portrait she painted....

Lovely!

Isn't this wedding the sweetest.

I love the back drop of the mountains and the rustic yet sweet setting of the ranch! I could really be into doing something like this....

Sometimes you just need a break.

We've all been there....where you hit (or slam) into a wall and a little break is needed. Well that's just what happened to me these past few weeks. I lost my creativity, my motivation and just needed a break to work out what was going on in my life. I did a lot of self-reflecting and thinking about what my next moves will be and what I ultimately want in life. Did I figure it out....nope (but I do feel like I gained some insight and a slight push in the right direction). With encouragement from friends I am back on track and feel I have regained my creativity and motivation (oh how I missed you)! And as for my little blog, I AM BACK BABY (I missed you too!!!)

That's all folks....until next time (I promise it won't be long)......

Fall thoughts...

Happy First Day of Fall!!

I love changing seasons. It's refreshing to feel the air grow crisp, watch the leaves change from green to deep shades of yellow, orange and red. I love sipping hot drinks curling up with a good book, hiding in the corner of a cozy bar drinking wine to escape the cold and chatting up good friends. Changing your wardrobe, adding boots, chunky sweaters, deep rich colors and tights. Aw, it's here, fall is here. The hope of change and thoughts of new adventures on the horizon. I hope to have a wonderful fall/autumn season....I am welcoming the fall season with open arms!

A few things that I've had on my mind for fall....

Foliage trip.
Pumpkins. Carving pumpkins, decorating pumpkins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin candles, pumpkin lattes...I love pumpkins!
